Description
UNIX BEA WebLogic Administrator is responsible for the administration and support of several in-house developed and vendor supplied applications. The incumbent holds a key role within the department using advanced knowledge to configure, deploy, tune, and troubleshoot application/system level production issues in a clustered WebLogic environment.
Responsibilities:
Configure, deploy, tune, and troubleshoot WebLogic applications
Provide leadership for major system changes and participate in planning and execution of WebLogic and WebSphere version and patch deployments.
Primary point of contact when dealing with tracking and managing vendor support tickets, and work with a team to triage and resolve urgent application issues
Automate the administration of the application run-time environment wherever possible
Provide expertise in Disaster Recovery planning and participate in system failover testing
Provide direction, training, and documentation to application development teams and peers within IS support staff
Provide technical support within Mitchell to include proactive and reactive incident resolution
Perform proactive review of systems performance metrics and alerts to ensure event correlation and trend analysis are performed on a regular basis.
Create/Ensure knowledge database is populated with resolutions, workarounds, known issues
Responsible for documenting the systems infrastructure and maintaining an accurate hardware and software inventory
Assist with Capacity Planning to ensure appropriate storage and/or processing capability of the technical infrastructure to support present and future initiatives
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Minimum 7 years of WebLogic and WebSphere experience with preference given to BEA Certified Administrators and IBM WebSphere Certified Administrators and UNIX administration experience
Minimum 5 years experience in IT comprised of operating system support, network communications, server and LAN connectivity, open platform management or analysis, and server hardware in a production environment
Possess effective oral and written communication skills in a high demand, technically challenging open systems and/or enterprise software production and/or large data center work environments is required
Experience with IBM AIX, UNIX/LINUX, WebLogic (WLI, WLS), IBM WebSphere, and Tomcat is required
Experience in performance tuning Weblogic in general and experience in environments tuning Weblogic with Oracle 10g strongly desired
Experience with configuring/deploying/troubleshooting Weblogic Integration (WLI) strongly desired
Explicit experience with Weblogic 8 required. Experience with Weblogic 9 desired
Experience with tuning Weblogic JMS preferred
Experience with MQSeries preferred
Experience with IBM WebSphere preferred
Experience configuring and troubleshooting application performance in a client-server, web-based, load-balanced and/or clustered environment is required
Good understanding of TCP/IP networks, tools and related protocols, understanding of HTTP, SOA, Java, Perl, and J2EE programming
